Safety Flooring
Oakwill are specialists in providing and installing safety flooring, mostly made from vinyl, which is designed to provide excellent slip-resistance and durability, especially in areas where extra protection is required. We install Safety Flooring across North Wales and beyond to commercial premises such as hospitals, kitchens, veterinary clinics, sports facilities and even light houses. There are some occasions where safety flooring has been installed in domestic properties too. It is ideal for areas prone to moisture and humidity that require a high level of hygiene, as it helps prevent slips and falls, reduces the spread of bacteria, and is very durable for high foot traffic areas.

Benefits of Safety Flooring
-
Slip resistant
Safety flooring is designed to be slip-resistant, making it an ideal choice for areas where slips and trips are more likely to occur. This makes it a popular choice for commercial settings such as restaurant kitchens, hospitals, and nurseries.
-
Easy to clean
Safety flooring is made of materials that do not absorb moisture or humidity, making it easy to clean with a quick wipe or mop. This also helps to prevent the buildup of bacteria and maintain excellent hygiene levels in areas where spills are likely to occur.
-
Long-lasting
Safety flooring is highly durable, making it a cost-effective flooring choice for premises with high footfall. With its long-lasting properties, it eliminates the need for frequent replacements, saving you money in the long run.
Safety Vinyl Flooring - FAQ’s
How easy is it to clean Safety Flooring?
The very nature of safety flooring ensures that cleaning is generally easy. While instructions may vary between products, most requirements can be addressed with normal techniques such as detergent solutions. The maintenance techniques will also depend upon the amount of foot traffic within a specific area and if the presence of other chemicals (such as oils) is a regular hazard.
Do I need an acoustic backing?
Most manufacturers offer acoustic commercial vinyl’s, which reduce the sound produced by as much as 19db. This can be greatly beneficial if working in larger buildings where sound reverberates, as they offer impact sound reduction and also reduce ambient noise when working in-room.
Can Safety Flooring be used in wet environments?
Yes, there are specific configurations of safety flooring designed for moist or consistently wet environments, such as a wet room or around the periphery of a pool. These surfaces offer non-slip characteristics and have also been fitted with anti-mould technology.
What is Commercial Vinyl Flooring?
Commercial vinyl flooring is specifically manufactured for use in public or commercial areas to provide a completely watertight floor covering, which can be easily installed and offer a level of slip resistance to reduce the risk of slips, trips, and falls and create a safe working environment.
What about slip resistance?
When choosing a new flooring for your commercial premises, it is vital to choose a vinyl with an appropriate slip resistance rating. There are two ways that lip resistance is rated: the ramp test and the pendulum test. For general use commercial areas, a slip resistance of R10 could be a suitable choice but the higher the “R” rating, the less chance of accidents happening.
Homogenous vs Heterogeneous?
There are two types of commercial vinyl flooring available: homogenous and heterogeneous. Homogenous vinyl flooring is created as a single layer of vinyl, meaning it is the same component from the top of the sheet to the bottom, which allows for depth of colour and high durability. Heterogeneous flooring is comprised of multiple layers of material, offering endless possibilities for design.
