Oakwill Flooring - Installing Safety Vinyl Flooring Across North Wales

Oakwill Flooring is currently working on 15 blocks of flats across Bangor, Blaenau, and Caernarfon, installing vinyl flooring with nosings in communal staircases and hallways. We were awarded the projects by the fantastic Bell Group!

One of the communal blocks in Bangor recently received a new safety vinyl flooring system. The stairs required ply boarding, and the ground floor quarry tiles needed a DPM and screed preparation.

Once the surfaces were prepared, Oakwill Flooring fitted Altro walkway vinyl in the colour "dolphin" with Genesis stair nosings with black inserts and yellow inserts on the top and bottom steps for safety.

Altro walkway vinyl is a durable and easy-to-maintain flooring solution that is ideal for high-traffic areas such as communal staircases and hallways. It is also slip-resistant, making it a safe choice!

Genesis stair nosings are designed to improve safety and reduce the risk of slips and trips. They are made from a durable material and feature a textured surface for added grip. The black and yellow inserts on the top and bottom steps provide additional visual cues to help users navigate the stairs safely.

Oakwill Installs Flooring At Glan Clwyd Hospital AMU Ward

Oakwill had the pleasure of returning to Glan Clwyd Hospital in Bodelwyddan, Denbighshire North Wales. This time the A&E Department in the Acute Medical Unit (AMU) ward, fitting the entire space with new cap and cove vinyl flooring. We prepared and fitted a total of 440 m2 of flooring, these included 2 wet rooms, reception area and corridors and patient bays.

To start all old flooring in the ward was uplifted then all areas were prepared using Mapei Eco Prime T plus (primer) and Mapei Latexplan Trade (screed) to ensure a sound subfloor for a perfect finish.

Firstly 2 wet rooms were installed with  a Tarkett Primo safe T vinyl in “Medium blue”. All other areas in the ward were fitted with a  Polysafe Pearlazzo in “Sailcloth” vinyl flooring.

All areas were fitted with Gradus cap & cove former. Adhesives used were Mapei Eco 380 & Fball F60.

All the cap and cove flooring we used is perfect for such a busy hospital as Glan Clwyd. Very hard waring safety floor, easy to clean whilst looking fresh and modern.

Vinyl Safety Flooring For Birkenhead Fire Station

The Oakwill team were excited to fit safety flooring for the Birkenhead fire station as well as Forbo Teviot Capet tiles for the office.

The safety flooring was the Polysafe 2000 PUR vinyl in the colour Shadow. This type of flooring was perfect for Birkenhead fire station as it is easy to clean and is durable.

Types of safety flooring:

• Homogenous vinyl flooring is created as a single layer of vinyl, meaning it is the same component from the top of the sheet to the bottom, which allows for depth of colour and high durability.

• Heterogeneous flooring is comprised of multiple layers of material, offering endless possibilities for design.

  
  Merseyside Fire and Rescue Authority was established on 1st April 1986 by the Local Government Act 1985, the Birkenhead fire station  a part of this authority. Polysafe flooring is the perfect type of flooring for a fire station.

• Slip resistance: this type of flooring has great slip resistance, making it suitable for wet areas or slippery conditions, meeting standards for slip resistance, providing a secure flooring.

• Safety standard: Polysafe 2000 PUR vinyl flooring is designed to meet many safety standards. Many standards evaluate the slip resistance, fire resistance, and other safety aspects of the flooring, ensuring its suitability for commercial environments.

• Maintenance: this type of flooring is easy to clean and maintain. Regular sweeping along with damp mopping, can keep the floor in good condition. The PUR reinforcement layer helps to protect the surface and maintain its appearance. But, leaving grit and dirt on the floor can lead to scratches, so it is important to look after the flooring.

• Durability: vinyl flooring can last from 10-20 years, the material is able to withstand heavy foot traffic making it perfect for the venues we have fitted.

• Appearance: There are many styles of vinyl in different colours for different rooms.
