Oakwill Give Caernarfon Police Station A Flooring Upgrade

The Oakwill Flooring team have recently completed a substantial flooring project over in the picturesque town of Caernarfon.

This time we had the pleasure of renewing the flooring in Caernarfon’s Police station. We were awarded the project by the fantastic TG Williams Builders and involved installing various kinds of flooring, stair nosings and also some prep work. The busy Police station which is situated on Maesincla Lane in the heart of Caernarfon was built in 2008, and it was now time for another refurb.

Firstly we had to prepare the floor for the vinyl areas - we applied Tremco DPM and then a Tremolo screed to the subfloor so it was perfectly smooth for the floor covering. For the ground floor entrance lobbies, store rooms and tea room we installed Marmoleum Real Top Shield in dove grey. We also fitted a Burmatex grimebuster matting in the entrance lobbies. Both products that look great and hardwearing for a very busy Police station!

For many of the corridors and offices we installed Navy Burmetex Infinity carpet tiles, which totalled 420m2. Again a hardwearing product and easy to clean. These tiles were also fitted in the Police station’s main reception area.

In all the changing rooms, toilets and in the main kitchen we fitted Forbo Safestep vinyl flooring in Smoke. A durable flooring that gave the areas a fresh and modern look, plus nice and easy to clean. Finally in the male and female shower rooms we installed a Forbo Safestep Vinyl flooring in an Aqua Reef Green. We also fitted Quantum nosings to all the stairs.

Oakwill Flooring have had the pleasure of undertaking projects in many interesting and important places over the years. Including, fire stations, hospitals, a lighthouse, and a ship to name a few. This latest installation at Caernarfon Police Station was another project that the Oakwill team was proud to have completed successfully!

Flooring for the Excalibur Ship in Holyhead

From lighthouses to hospitals and now flooring for a ship! The types of projects Oakwill work on can be very varied, and this one was no exception. The Oakwill team recently installed some vinyl flooring to The Fugro, Excalibur Ship which was docked in Holyhead.

Excalibur takes the crown as the biggest jack-up barge in Fugro's lineup, proudly meeting Germanischer Lloyd standards. Sporting eight legs, it can comfortably handle water depths up to 40 meters. It's been a go-to for setting up foundations in offshore wind farm projects and, another bonus, it even has an integral foundation drilling unit.

We were awarded the project by the fantastic Mod Pods Of Conwy and had the task of installing Vinyl flooring to their storage room.

The first task was to fill and smooth the ply joints using Ardex Feather Finish to get a perfect subfloor ready to install the Vinyl flooring. Once completed we then fitted Altro Walkway in the colour of ‘Streetlight’ - a great hard wearing and bright flooring perfect for a busy ship!

Flooring For The Blind Veterans UK Wellbeing Centre in Llandudno

Oakwill had the pleasure fitting sheet vinyl in the Blind Veterans UK Centre in Llandudno in their canteen. This type of flooring is perfect for a canteen as it is Easy to clean.

Blind Veterans UK support anyone who has served in the Armed Forces, or who has done National Service, and who is now living with significant sight loss.

This charity provide veterans with rehabilitation, training, practical advice and emotional support.

Blind Veterans UK help to combat isolation, helping veterans feel like they are not alone!

For this project we uplifted the old floor, applied Mapei Latexplan Trade to the subfloor, when dried we buffed the floor to smooth and lay a Polysafe wood FX vinyl sheet . This was stuck to the subfloor using Fball F44 glue.

This type of Polysafe flooring is:

• Durable

• Low maintenance

Blind Veterans UK provide the rehabilitation, training, practical advice and emotional support to ensure veterans can learn the skills they need to regain their independence and live the life they choose.
